Voting age.

Question: "Should the voting age be lowered to 16?"

I believe that the voting age shouldn't be lowered; I think this because of the following reasons, in which I will explain. The age of which you must be to have a say in who runs the country is currently 18 years.

My first and overall main reason why I don't think that 16 year olds should be able to vote is that... well, chances are, they're not very capable in terms of thinking and overall intellect! They're still super hormonal, and that's rarely ever goes good in a combination of political power. The mature mind and the mature mind only really deserves a say, however, in saying that, it's became quite clear that other kids these days know when something is wrong, are quite woke and are most definetely capable of making the right decision, but it really is a risk.

Secondly, Teens tend to take important situations as if it were a joke, this also links to the topic of mature minds, Most teens don't care for political and/or controversial discussions and don't possess or want the right mindset to do so! Why give them the ability to do something they don't want or care to do? (ft. a rhetorical question)

Finally, I'd like to acknowledge that not all teenagers, 16-year-old's in particular aren't all like this! But it's still fair to say that most of us couldn't care less, we have better things to do! like doing homework last minute or literally anything else. Voting really isn't something that sounds like us as the youth of today!

However, if we were to vote, I would want someone (a party) who is open-minded and can identify the real problems in the world and try their best to either spread the word and/or help fix them! We as a nation need to spread awareness of all the wrong that is still lurking in the modern world, and we should all know by now that the right people can do the right thing.

Keep NZ Beautiful Week

On September 11th, 10 Rata walked around Kawakawa picking up rubbish to partake in the annual "Keep New Zealand Beautiful" week. We noticed that in terms of environmental health, It was quite degraded, contrary to all the potential that Papatūānuku has to be beautiful; this, in turn of the acts that we all, as individuals may think is okay.

We found that there were heaps of glass bottles and heaps of other rubbish that could've easily been taken to a bin! I think that the bottles looked pretty cool and could've made nice decorations, in-fact nearly all of the litter found could've been recycled and re-used! It's really upsetting to see stuff being wasted like that, and even worst, sitting in the grass, ruining the landscape!

I think people are being a bit too arrogant and that's not okay, especially when it's killing the planet we live on!
